Whether you call them subscriptions, memberships, passes, or season tickets, Packages in Ovationtix allow you to bundle ticket inventory into either a single price point, or set an initial amount to unlock benefits.
In this article, we're going to be focusing on the FixedPlus Package, which redeems a specified number of tickets to events/seats from different series concurrently with the package purchase.
In other words, you should use this package if you want to sell a bunch of tickets all at once to different series, for one singular price point, in one transaction.
That said, there are a number of different ways you can configure your FixedPlus Package, depending on what you're trying to do.
To demonstrate that, we're going to go through a number of different configurations for your FixedPlus Package.
The Multi-Show Pass
With this type of Fixed Plus Package, you will create a package that has a three tickets, for three different series.
To start making your package, hover over Tools, then click on Packages:
On the next page, click FixedPlus Package:
This will bring you to the Package Basics screen:
On this screen, you'll decide on the Package Name, the Package Description, and your Price Points.
The Package Name and Package Description are self explanatory, but keep in mind when filling in your Package Description that this what your patron will see online when purchasing the package. Be sure to put anything in here you would like your patrons to know about the package. (Ie how many tickets they'll get, the series included etc)
Underneath the Package Description, you'll find your Price Points. There are a few ways to create Price Points in a FixedPlus Package:
Referencing the image above, take note of the Price Point types represented:
1. Standard: A public price point for $99. Take note of the Type, which you can see is Public.
2. Student: Another public price point, this time for $90.
3. Special Discount: This is a Coded Price Point. Notice that we have changed the Type from Public to Coded, then filled in the Code as Special. If a patron wants to access this Price Point online, they'll have to fill in that code (Special) to do it. Once they do, they'll see the price point become available.
4. Box Office Only: This is a Private Price Point, and is only available in the Box Office. Patrons do not have access to this Price Point online, as it can only be sold in the Box Office.
Keep in mind while creating Price Points that no matter how many Price Points you create, what you call them, or how much each of them is, if they're in the same FixedPlus Package, they are all selling the same exact package. If you need to create a package that costs a different amount and has different tickets in it, you will need to create a different package.
Once you have filled everything out, your screen will look something like this. Go ahead and click Save & Next to move on to the next step:
For this package, we're going to add three tickets for three specific series. Patrons will be able to choose their dates, but they will be getting three tickets to three different series.
To get started adding your tickets in step 2, Tickets in this Package, click +Add a Ticket:
Once you click +Add a ticket, follow these steps to add your first ticket:
1. Click Selected Series. That way, the patron will have to choose the series you select for them.
2. Click the series you would like to add to the package. In this case, we're selecting "A Doll's House".
3. Select Any Event. The patron has to choose "A Doll's House" for this ticket, but they do get to choose the date.
4. In this step, we're deciding whether or not the patron gets to choose any section they want, or a specific section determined by you. In this case, we've decided that they have to get tickets from the Orchestra section. To do that, in this step, you will select Selected Section.
5. And in step 5, we select Orchestra.
Once all of these steps have been completed, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save Ticket.
After you've clicked Save Ticket, your ticket will be added, and you can proceed to add another one by clicking +Add a Ticket again:
This will bring you to step 3, Package Details. The first thing you're going to do in step 3 is determine your package's Availability:
In other words, do you want the $99 from this package to be counted as package revenue, and the tickets counted as $0.00? Or do you want each ticket within the package to receive $33.00, and the package to receive $0.00?
If you want the package to receive revenue, then you will not check the box that says "I want tickets to receive revenue instead of the package".
If you want your tickets to receive revenue, then you will check the box that says "I want tickets to receive revenue instead of the package".
If you have opted to have tickets receive revenue, you will need to fill in the Face Value on Ticket and Ticketing Revenue.
The Face Value on Ticket is what the patron will see. This is purely for display purposes.
Ticketing Revenue, however, does need to be filled in. These fields tell Ovationtix how much revenue is assigned to each ticket. In the case of a $99 price point with 3 tickets, each ticket must be given an amount that will add up to $99:
In the example above, each ticket is given a Ticketing Revenue of $33. That way, when a patron purchases this package, each ticket will be counted as $33 worth of revenue. We have filled out the Face Value on Ticket as $40, to show that this is just for display, and does not actually affect the value of the ticket.
If you have opted to have the package receive revenue, you're free to fill out the Accounted Revenue, but it is not required. This is only for your records. The actual revenue, again, will be going towards the package itself.
For more details on allotting revenue to the package or the tickets, check out this article HERE.
Once you've decided on how you want to receive your revenue, click Save & Finish on the bottom of the screen:
That's it, you've completed your FixedPlus Package!
Now that we have the basics down, let's talk about a couple of other kinds of packages you can make using the FixedPlus Package.
The Select Your Show Pass
With this type of Fixed Plus Package, you will create a package that has three tickets, for any show. Since we've already spoken about step 1, which is the same for all packages, we're going to skip straight to step 2, Tickets in this Package.
Just like before, we're going to click Add a Ticket, but this time, we're going to select Any Series:
When you do this, you'll notice that all of your series are selected. This will allow your patrons to select any series when choosing their tickets for this show. If you only want to select some tickets, click Selected Series, and select any series you want to give your patron the option to choose from. Then, when you're done, just scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Ticket:
After you've clicked Save Ticket, your ticket will be added, and you can proceed to add another one by clicking +Add a Ticket again:
Remember: do not click Save & Next until you've added all of your tickets! Keep clicking +Add a Ticket and saving the new tickets, until you see all of the tickets you want in the package listed!
Once all of those tickets have been added, go ahead and click Save & Next:
Step 3 for this package is basically the same as it is for the first package we created. Just decide on Availability, fill out your Face Value and Accounted Revenue, then click Save & Finish. This package is appropriate if you want to give your patrons access to a number of different shows, in any combination they would prefer.
The Family Pass
With The Family Pass, we're going to offer 3 tickets to one event. This just involves locking it down a little more in step two, Tickets in this Package, so we're going to skip straight to that step.
The major change here is we're going to select not only the series, but also the date for each show.
As you can see, we're selecting a specific date here. You have the option, of course, of whether you would like to give your patrons the option of selecting their Section or not. Once you have added all of your series/events, it will look something like this:
Just like in our previous example, we will now click Save & Next, and move onto step 3, Package Details. You'll fill out step three in a similar manner to how you filled it out for your other packages.
There you have it! Three different ways in which to utilize the FixedPlus Package. There are of course other ways to use this type of package, but hopefully these examples have given you a good idea of how this tool works. Happy package making!
