OVERVIEW
Donations received from one patron record can now designate soft credits to other patrons, giving a clearer, more accurate picture of patrons' contributions, whether given directly or via a facilitator.
This article will highlight where to view, add, and edit soft credit attribution to:
- donations received via the patron record
- donations received towards a pledge via the patron record
- previously processed donations via order detail donations tab
PATRON RECORD SECTIONS
The sections for Soft Credits and Contributions (our term for direct donations plus soft credit attribution) live on the right half of the patron record page right above the Donations section.
When the Receive Donation link is clicked, an enhanced modal box appears allowing the ability to attribute a soft credit to one or more patrons. The total amounts of the soft credits may not exceed the total amount of the actual contribution.
ORDER DETAIL DONATIONS TAB
To add or edit a soft credit for an existing donation, simply locate the order detail containing the donation and click the donations tab.
Add/Edit Soft Credit link is found on the right end of the donation detail. Clicking it brings up a modal box showing the currently attributed amount and soft credit history.
The system searches for matching patrons as you type the name.
As patrons are credited, they are listed at the bottom with the amount attributed to them. The total attributed amount may not exceed the total donation amount.
Soft credits attributed to a patron appear itemized in the Soft Credits section of their patron detail page, including the name of the patron who made the donation and a link to the order including that donation. Above that, in the Contributions section, we see the patron's lifetime giving as a sum of their soft credits and donations.
RECEIVE PLEDGED DONATION
Similar to the Receive Donation link, receiving a pledged donation may also include the attribution of a soft credit.
