Using the Membership tool in a fundraising campaign, you can give patrons Flexible Package Rights for donating in specific monetary ranges.
In this article, we're going to talk about what this functionality does, and how to use it.
In order to get the most out of this article, you should have at least a passing familiarity with flexible packages. If you feel like you need to brush up on your flexible package knowledge, check out This Article.
For a quick rundown of memberships, check out this video!
First, get into the fundraising campaign you'd like to add membership functionality to (Hover over Tools--->Fundraising--->Edit to the far right of the campaign in question), and find the Membership portion of the page. Change the radio button from No to Yes:
After switching memberships on, you'll notice that the benefits portion of the page lights up:
First, fill in the Donation Range. This will determine the donation amounts needed for a patron to receive membership benefits. In the example below, any patron donation from $0.00 to $200 will receive benefits:
Next, choose the package that the patron will receive, using the pull-down menu:
Whatever package you select will automatically be given to the patron when they donate within the range that you specified.
You may also specify the amount of the donation that is not tax-deductible, because of the package benefits:
Keep in mind that this is optional - you don't have to specify a non-tax deductible amount.
Finally, you'll see an option to add a campaign tier. Click this if you would like to add another tier to your membership benefits:
You'll see that in this case, we now have two tiers - from $0.00 to $200.00, donors will receive the Season Package. From $200.01-$300, they will receive the Season Subscription.
Note in our example that we have no gaps in the tier amounts - if you're going to have multiple tiers, you have to use cent amounts so there are no monetary gaps.
You can also give patrons the option to waive all membership benefits by checking the box next to where it says Allow consumer to waive donation benefits:
Before finishing up, it would be a good idea to give your patrons an idea of what they'll be receiving when they donate. You can do this in the Description portion of the page:
When you're done setting up your membership benefits, click Save on the bottom of the page.
Taking a Donation with Benefits in the Box Office
Taking a donation with benefits in the box office is super easy! First, get into Quicksell, then click into your fundraising section:
Make sure to select the Fundraising Campaign that you added Membership Functionality to, with a suitable amount to trigger the membership benefits.
You'll notice after putting the donation into the patron's cart, that OvationTix will automatically give them their Flexible Package! You can even start putting events into the cart that the patron has access to now, thanks to their Package Benefits.
Complete the check out process, and you're all set.
Patrons also have the ability to make donations online, and when they do, just like in Quicksell, they will receive their package as soon as the donation is put into the cart.
As you can see, patrons can receive some great benefits when you use the Membership tool. Again, if you don't have access to Memberships, reach out to your Customer Success Manager, and they'll be happy to help you get it set up.
