Sometimes, you just need to delete a patron record. Regardless of your reasoning, this article will tell you how to get it done.
Keep in mind that in OvationTix, you can't ever really delete a patron. What you can do, however, is merge them into another patron record.
Only do this if you want to essentially remove a patron record from your OvationTix account! Doing everything described below is permanent, and cannot be undone. This has nothing to do with refunding orders or removing seat holds - this is just for deleting a patron record from your OvationTix account.
Create a Dummy Patron Record
Your first step is to create a "dummy account" where all of your deleted patrons will go. Macabre? Yes. Efficient? Not really, but it gets the job done.
To create a patron record, first hover over Search, then click Patron Search.
Near the bottom of the page, under Add a Patron, click Add an individual.
A pop-up will appear. Fill in the first and last name with something similar to Deleted Patron, then click Create New Patron on the bottom of the page.
You will now have a patron record made specifically to merge unwanted or unneeded patron records into. As you can see, ours is named Deleted Patrons.
The good news is, once you've created this patron record, you won't have to do it again. Now you just merge any unwanted records into the Deleted Patrons patron record.
Start Deleting Patrons
To start deleting your patrons, first get into a Patron Record you want to delete, then click Merge Patron near the bottom of the screen.
On the next screen, search for your Deleted Patrons account.
Your Deleted Patrons Patron Record will appear in the search results near the bottom of the page. Click merge>> to the left of your Deleted Patrons Patron Record.
This will bring you to the merge screen. Keep everything on the right by making sure that your radio buttons are set to Right for any conflicting items. Then click Save on the bottom of the screen.
OvationTix will ask if you are sure, since this is quite permanent. Assuming you are, click OK.
You'll be brought right back to your Deleted Patrons patron record, and your other patron record is now gone. Keep in mind that if the patron record you're deleting has any transactions in it, those transactions will now be attributed to your Deleted Patrons patron record.
